Veterinarian-Recommended Care for Stubborn Corns & Calluses
Greyhound Corn & Callus Cream is a veterinarian-recommended proprietary topical formulation designed to address stubborn corns and calluses through targeted keratolytic action and skin-softening support. It helps soften and heal the sensitive pads, promotes removal of corns and calluses, and has anti-inflammatory/anti-pain properties.
A preliminary study done has shown a 75-80% cure rate.
Use in humans
This same formulation has also been used successfully for human corns and calluses.
Many clients choose this product for thickened skin on feet or hands due to its effective keratolytic and skin-softening properties. Coverage with hand or feet booties helps absorption, softening, and keratolytic actions.
Why This Formula Works
Key Benefits
How to Use: LabNaturals® 2-Step Care Protocol*
*Best results are seen when both steps are applied twice a day
Step 1: Pre-Treatment
Apply a small amount of *Greyhound Hyaluronic Acid Lotion to the affected area on the paw pad.
Cover with a baggie (secure around the ankle with a zip tie) or wrap in Saran Wrap and leave on for 20 minutes.
*Hyaluronic Acid holds 1000x its weight in water and provides better hydration than Olive Oil/Water soaks or Epsom salt soaks which actually draws out fluid from the tissue.
The softer the pad the better the cream will work.
Do NOT wash off.
This step deeply hydrates and softens the skin to prepare it for treatment.
Step 2: Treatment
Apply a small amount (about a small pea size dab) of Greyhound Corn & Callus Cream directly to the corn or callused area. Try to focus application on the corn to be removed. Massage in well-the cream will appear to be white when rubbed on the pad, keep running on until the cream is gone.
Cover with a baggie (secure around the ankle with a zip tie) or wrap in Saran Wrap and leave on for 20 minutes.
After treatment, remove covering and gently wipe the area if needed.
The cream may be applied into a hulled pad to soften the “hull” to help prevent regrowth of the corn. Sometimes the corn will fall out on its own. Please talk to your vet about pulling out a corn that seems ready to come out before doing this on your own. Most clients tell us that when they do pull out the dead corn it is black on the bottom-this is exactly what we want to see-the death of the root.
Optimal results are typically seen with twice a day applications. (View link to our study on our webpage)
Resolution has been seen in as little as 3 days for mild cases. Treatment may take up to 5 months or more for severe cases with repeated use.
The cream may be used for prevention or maintenance. Application varies but may be applied 1-5 times a week, once a day-observe your animals walking pattern and response.
Close lid tightly after use. Store at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Warnings
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin.
Discontinue use if severe irritation or excessive redness occurs.
Keep out of reach of children.
Wash hands with soap and water after use.
This cream is non-toxic if used properly and the paw is occluded for 20 minutes post application. To date, no side effects have been reported, but it is possible that a mild localized irritation to surrounding skin or possible sloughing of old skin on the pad may occur.
You may wish to use a boot for your Greyhound in between treatments to protect the pad.
